Burnout isn't a black box that nobody knows how it operates or happens.

Burnout is very clearly connected to the company's working culture. The WHO explains it asΒ "an occupational syndrome caused by chronic workplace stress." This means it happens at work because of work-related problems.

But how do you spot burnout symptoms?

And recognise where you fit into the picture.

🚨 Common symptoms:‍

You feel tired all of the time, even at times when you get a good night’s sleep. Work tasks feel overwhelming, and getting started on or completing them takes a lot of effort. You feel yourself becoming more cynical. Work feels hopeless, and you speak negatively about most things with your colleagues, friends, and family. Your emotions feel like they are on the surface. A small something that wouldn’t have bothered you before now significantly impacts your wellbeing.

Common symptoms look something like the following.

You start skipping some of your hobbies because you have too much work. Your diet is becoming slightly worse. You favor fatty and quick foods over healthy alternatives because you don’t have the energy to prepare them. You can’t remember the last time you had lunch with a colleague because you now use your lunch break to do more work. When you receive a work message, you get anxious in the pit of your stomach.

Common symptoms look something like the following.
You generally sleep well during the night and feel energized when you wake up. New challenges at work feel exciting, and you enjoy at least 20% of what you do. You have a good balance between your free time and work. Your outlook on life is generally positive.
